Am I Psychic or What

Just yesterday, I said I had a feeling I would win Gary Lee’s iPhone giveaway since I only ever win useless things. Well as luck would have it, less than an hour after I made that post, I find out that I won the world’s thinnest mouse from John Chow, the G4 Slim Mouse. How’s that for something useless!
This little engineering marvel fits inside your laptop’s PCMCIA slot and when unfolded (supposedly quite the challenge), it becomes a corded optical mouse that is apparently uncomfortable to use. The mouse has two buttons and a touchpad scroll wheel, much like the one on laptops or on the Logitech V500 which I also own. Given the small size, I can only imagine how uncomfortable this mouse will be for prolonged use. I think I’ll stick to my Trackpoint, thank you very much.
Although dubbed by the maker as The Thinnest Mouse Ever Created, Newton Peripherals actually came out with a similar mouse a while ago, the MoGo Mouse. Here are the differences between the G4 Slim Mouse and the MoGo mouse:

G4 Slim Mouse
- USB Corded
- Metal Build
- Hinged mechanism
- Touchpad scrolling
- $69.99
MoGo Mouse
- Built-in Bluetooth (recharges through PCMCIA slot)
- Plastic Build
- Simple flap mechanism
- No scrolling
- $39.99
Frankly, I think the MoGo mouse is a better device simply due to its built in Bluetooth. But for the price of FREE, I have no complaints. The only question now is whether I should give it away in my own promotion or use it. After all, I can’t think of anything else to put in my PCMCIA slot.

Congrats Jon . . . you see . . luck may be turning to your side . . . just gotta hope it stays on your side until mid august!
Congrats on your win! I’m sure that your site’s going to be pounded by the “John Chow Effect”, now.
I’ve been using a MoGo mouse for the last 8 months, and it’s been alright for the most part. It did take some getting used to … the lack of a scroll function almost drove me to madness in the first week, but it’s nice to pack up your notebook and run out the door without some big Logitech Bluetooth mouse, or some micro notebook mouse that’s clearly designed for much smaller hands
One word of warning for anyone that’s considering dropping the cash for this thing. They do have a tendancy to crack on the right hand side, which then blocks a spring and inhibits the left mouse click. To get around this, you’ll need to pull that little spring clip from the underside of the flap. Aside from this, it’s been well worth the money.
As it stands, the “John Chow Effect” seems to apply only to ReviewMe posts. I didn’t even get 100 hits from a front page link!
Hopefully this Slim Mouse will be better since it has a metal construction. It does look rather delicate though..
Me too, you should come up with ways to allow readers to have bonus entries! Maybe a stumble or post a comment for an extra entry!

I was doubting your iPhone winning chances given how useful it seems to be.
But the world’s thinnest mouse? Why not!
When you get it can you post up a review, I’m interesting to see what it’s like.
