Jon Lee from S Club 7What is a Google twin you ask? Your Google twin is the person (or persons) that comes up on Google when you search your own name. They may or may not be currently ranked higher than you. If they are then it is your job to defeat them! I’m sure John Chow is already the strongest of his Google siblings, and I’m sure Saman Sadeghi, with the luxury of a unique name, has no Google twin.

With a common name like Jon Lee, I have a tough journey ahead of me on the path to becoming the most popular Jon Lee on the net! As of the time of writing, I’m currently ranked 8th when searching for “Jon Lee” (notice there is NO “h” in my name, its Jon not John!). I actually have 4 Google twins! I guess we would be Google quintuplets?

Remember S Club 7? Maybe you do, maybe you don’t. They were a British teen pop band that stormed into North America with their own TV shows and uptempo catchy tunes (now succeeded by the not-as-popular S Club Juniors). Now remember that blonde pretty-boy named Jon? Yep, you guessed it, his last name is Lee. Currently, S Club 7’s Jon Lee has 3 entires above me: his IMDB entry, his official website (which is down for construction) and his Wikipedia entry.

How am I supposed to top the multi million dollar S Club empire’s lead pretty boy?? Well it helps that they aren’t popular anymore (except maybe Rachel Stevens). And it also helps that Jon looks a lot like T-Bag, the sleazy murderer from Prison Break.

T-Bag and Jon Lee

Also above me is the original drummer from the successful British rock band Feeder. I’m not familiar with their music but it appears he committed suicide in 2002. He has his Wikipedia entry and a BBC article detailing his suicide ranked above me.

Jon Lee from FeederThen there’s Jon Lee Recruitment, a medium sized British recruiting firm. (Wow the English are really kicking my butt!) Jon Lee Recruitment is currently ranked 4th.

Topping the list of Jon Lee’s is the manager of an IBM research group in discrete optimization. I’m not sure how he got to the top – I mean, when was the last time you searched for “IBM discrete optimization manager”?

So it all comes down to this: I have to top a recruitment firm, a washed-up pop star, a dead drummer and an IBM guy. My goal is to be the #1 Jon Lee on the internet by Christmas this year, that’d be a nice Christmas gift :) As hard as this task sounds, it could be worse, at least my name isn’t Bruce. ;)

Go look up your own Google Twin and take them down!

You sure have your work cut out don’t you :D . I don’t have a Google Twin, then again my name is not that common. I did receive an email once from somethat read something like “Hey I typed my name into Google and you have my name too” or somethign like that. They never did respond to my reply. Anyways, good luck and btw John Chow doesn’t even rank for his own name. He got Google smacked!

My fave has to be hot S Club Jon… Can I just add that he now starrs in the London West End Musicals, and Film ‘Telstar’ so I deny that he is ‘washed up’…anyway that’s just my opinion.
