Download DayYesterday marks the release of the newest version of the popular Mozilla web-browser, Firefox 3 and it is also Download Day.  Help Mozilla set a Guinness World Record for the most number of downloads in 24 hours by downloading your free copy of Firefox 3!

The Mozilla site was inaccessible yesterday but is working fine now.  You have a little over 3 hours since the time of this post to download to be counted towards the World Record (until 1pm EST).  If you miss it, don’t worry.  I’m sure they (and you) will still appreciate the excellent software that has been a front runner for open source all these years.

My favorite thing about Firefox 3 is the new title bar now called the “Smart Location Bar” or “Awesome Bar” that is smart enough to adjust to your habits and preferences as you use it.  No longer is it a simple collection of previous addresses you’ve visited.  It now includes a lot more detail and is made much more useful since it can second as the “History Tab”.  You can also delete pages from history by deleting it from your title bar!

It almost update each plug-in which I had on previous version. I think it has all popular plug-ins.

  9. I have been a user of Mozilla Web browser for years now. I have always been satisfied with its service. I’m excited on their new version Firefox 3. I would like to know more about the new features that they have to offer for their users. I’m sure Mozilla’s new version will give you more satisfaction in browsing.

  10. I definitely downloaded it on launch day. Go record!

I would have been working with it’s older version.
Version 3 is going to be great…

I will download as soon and hope to see how much it will be…..

  15. Well firefox 3 as of now is same as vista. When Vista was launched we had this same compatibility issues. I think we are going to have a fix, patch or a hot fox for forefox 3 soon. Apart from some minor compatibility issues, firefox 3 works great. Have lot more exciting features as compared to earlier version and current version of IE i.e 7. :)

I think FF3 is great. I keep considering trying Opera but always come across another great plug in or reason to stick with FF.

  17. Thanks, I am downloading it right now. I was not sure whether to upgrade or not, but by studying all those features, I have made my mind.

    Thanks again

  18. I had also reinstalled my old version as my plugin can’t do well with 3.0 version.

  19. Did it, and proudly downloaded and printed my certificate!

    Great job FF.

  24. Love firefox. Version 3 is no different

  25. I was part of the marathon too. Firefox 3 is great hey! IE can learn a thing or two from firefox. Lol!

  26. I have been using FF3 for several weeks and I love it. I just noticed some minor glitches using it on my Mac. But all in all, it’s great (especially when using the Pimpzilla theme).

This new version is really good and worth downloading

  28. Jelloguy says:

I actually downloaded it the next day. Didn’t contribute to FF record…well, life goes on :)

  29. Well, obviously I missed the marathon. But I am glad to say that I have been using the Firefox browser since I found out about it in 2006. My IE browser kept shutting down on me for no apparent reason, so I looked for an alternative. Haven’t looked back since. Firefox just kicks butt :)

  30. I have to say, I can’t believe I’ve gone this long without Firefox 3. Definitely behind the curve. Maybe we just don’t get the news out here In Utah… :p
