This little link train was started by my friend Prija from Blogging the Movie. Building on the success of the Technorati faves train by Gary Lee, this train hopes to not only help blogs gain exposure but also to build backlinks to improve Technorati ranking.

The unique thing about this link train is that all links have the nofollow tag on it — meaning they will be blind to search engines. This is important because certain search engines may frown upon this type of link building strategy (i.e. Google).

Also, by joining the train, you have a chance to win the best-selling book The 4-hour Workweek courtesy of Blogging the Movie!

How to Join the Train

  1. Write an original short snippet introduction to avoid duplicate content.
  2. Just copy the section between the start and end.
  3. Add your 3 favorite blogs with rel=”nofollow” in the link on the code page.

    <a href=”http://url.com/” rel=”nofollow” target=”_blank”>URL.com</a>

This is extremely important to ensure that Google won’t ding us. Make sure you contact the bloggers and insist they participate so they can keep this going.

  4. Email your URL of your blog post to Free4hourWorkweek@gmail.com

Not sure i support this. On my blogs i have allowed DOFOllow for a long time, i feel it rewards posters on my blog. I see it as people don’t have to post, but they take time out of there day so i will reward them with a backlink. Sure your strategy has good motives and will improve alexa rank, but a lot of people are concerned with SERP rankings, alone.

  3. Sounds good. I will try it.

  4. [...] this time around. This is a new kind of train, a no-follow link train which I found out about from Jonlee’s blog. Recently Google had penalized sites for not using nofollow tags in links. This doesn’t help [...]

I just joined the no follow train. I missed out on the technorati train though. I hope this no follow train helps all of us well it won’t be of any help for pagerank. :(

Andy – I think the point is, it has been reported that using Link Trains can have negative impacts on your Technorati, Google, and other rankings. This Link Train would let you get your link out into the blogsphere, but remove the possible negative impacts…

    I’m on board!

  8. I agree with Andy there.

You’re always welcome to continue the train! When a few people start picking up on it again, it usually gains popularity again pretty quickly!
