Amazon LogoI have removed all Adsense and banner ads from my blog. It appears that the ads were not providing any useful information for my readers nor were they bringing in any significant revenue. However, I have signed up for an Amazon Associates account and replaced the old banners with Amazon product links. Hopefully, this will be more useful in helping users score some good deals on products I talk discuss. I’m definitely not in it for the money as it is on a commission basis – about 4% of each sale. And based on the types of products I review and promote, this amount is almost negligible. Not to mention the $15 processing fee Amazon charges to send an international payment (no electronic payment option for Canadians!)

The first time I loaded the page with the Amazon product links, an advertisement for a Kingston Data Traveler 1 GB USB Flash Drive came up $4.59! I’m using Amazon.com as my main portal even though I’m Canadian. This is because Amazon.ca only sells books, audio CDs and movies. Seems like Canadians always get the short end of the stick when it comes to e-commerce!
