Miscellaneous Site Stuff
Posted by Jon Lee in Personal, Site stuff, tags: adsense, amazon-associates, google-twin, permalinks, plug-ins, wordpressI’ve updated/added/changed a few things.
- Contact page: Added a contact page using the Secure and Accessible PHP Contact Form for Wordpress Plugin (phew what a long name). Check it out, its cool and easy to install!
- About page: Updated the about page with more information
- Google Twin Quest: Added a sidebar section to keep you updated about my quest to defeat my Google twins!
- Google Adsense: Replaced Amazon ads with Adsense, only because the Amazon ads were slowing down page loading time.
- Permalinks: Changed the permalink structure to not include the ugly date tags. Normally this would break links from other pages and search engine results, but I used the Permalinks Migration Plugin to keep old links working and to let search engines know where to find the new page.
- Site layout: Tweaked a bit here and there, shrunk and changed my header a bit.
Enjoy!

What about %postname%.html ?
An about page is always a good option. really like the twin widget you have, funny stuff…
I don’t know why… but I don’t particularly like the “fake .html” thing…
I use that on some content sites in the hope of fooling the search engines into thinking they aren’t dynamic sites. Who knows if it matters. I am of the theory that just as long as your don’t have any querystring variables in the URL, you are good to go.
Nice changes. Amazon ads literally pays 1 cents for 10 visitors.
Yea didn’t have much luck with them unfortuately
