Let‘s keep this one short and sweet because it‘s my girlfriend‘s birthday today and I don‘t have too much time to spend on this!
Last month‘s goals:
- Increase Alexa ranking into top 70,000
64,336 - woohoo! - Increase RSS readership above 250
222 - but it‘s been over 250 a few days! - Increase Technorati ranking into the top 6,000.
3,077 - sizzling! - Maintain a post a day!
29 posts - off by 1 post, again! - Earn at least $50 (non-affiliate) from Text-link-ads and Review-me.
I‘ve earned nothing, I think I give up on them. Perhaps it‘s time to look into alternatives! - Publicly launch an interesting little site I‘ve been working on!
SurfHandsfree.com – Launched and is being used, albeit not by many people! - Write some more product reviews
Reviewed: mediatemple, Mozy, and more mediatemple - Write more about Ruby on Rails
I‘ve actually diverged from this a bit as I‘m working on an exciting new project in PHP/MySQL (something I‘m more familiar with).
So I didn‘t meet all the goals I set for myself but my rankings just keep on going up! Let‘s hope they follow that trend!
Goals for July 2007
- Increase Alexa ranking into top 50,000, that‘s a big milestone!
- Increase RSS readership above 275
- Increase Technorati ranking into the top 2,500
- Maintain a post a day! (I‘ll get it, one of these months!)
- Finish a huge project that I‘m sure you will all love and will hopefully make me rich!

I checked out SurHandsFree, it has some good functionality now, but for a quick addition, maybe have it so that to pause you only need to mouse over the button.
For something to add in the near future, why not enable some sort of tags, and have it use any of the tagging services out there to provide new sites on the fly? It’d be somewhat like StumbleUpon, just more automated and randomized. Cookies could be used so that logins aren’t needed and a user’d only have to enter the tags once.
Thanks for the recommendations
Maybe I’ll turn it into a web-based stumble upon!
Awesome post! I love seeing blogs hitting their goals and continually growing. I look forward to seeing your new set of numbers next month.
I just added your site to my RSS feeds! Maybe that will help you with your new goals.
Very impressive and I respect that you publicly list this goals with a follow-up for everyone to see.
Great increase, what traffic levels does this equate to?
Thanks! Appreciate it!
Honesty is the best policy, right?
I like reading stats about other blogs so I figure others might like reading mine too!
A little under a thousand hits a day the past month or so
[...] it. Also, thank you to Jon Lee who gave me the idea for this sort of monthly review, those his are slightly differently. I’d be glad to here your thoughts about this blog as a whole in the comments below. Oh, and [...]
Wow, congratulations on your improvements in your site. Would you say that most of those increases were through incremental improvements? Or was there one particular thing which helped to jump start your site?
I’d say it was incremental, getting dugg certainly helped but I guess that won’t be happening anymore!
Congrats on your improvements. You set some big goals but I bet you can reach them! What PR do you want to earn this month (google PR update should be the end of this month)?
at least a 5… hopefully a 6!
Oh, I’m hoping to get a 5. Around what PR do you think I may get if I have…
6 PR 6 backlinks
10 PR 5 backlinks
4 PR 4 backlinks
4 PR 3 backlinks
2 PR 2 backlinks
and some PR 0 and PR 1 backlinks
Thanks! Could you also tell me what I need more of?
I’d estimate a 3 or a 4… PR8 and over backlinks really help if you can figure out how to get one!
