Mozy Double Sign-up Bonus
Posted by Jon Lee in Offtopic, tags: backup, mac os, mozy, review
For the holiday season, my favorite online back-up solution, Mozy, is giving away a bonus 512 megs of space for their free 2 GB accounts. This means you’ll get 2.5 gigabytes of encrypted online back-up storage (25% more than usual!).
I’ve reviewed Mozy before and found it to be the best back-up solution. 2.5 gigabytes isn’t much space by today’s standards but it’s more than enough to store important documents and files offsite. Backing up everything to an external hard drive is a good idea but if some sort of accident (e.g. fire, earthquake) damages your computer, chances are, your external hard drive will be lost too! That’s why it’s also important to keep at least one extra copy of your back-up offsite.
Not to mention, it’s one of the only online back-up services available for Mac OS
Enter referral code T3DN37 to get the bonus 512 megs of space (full disclosure: I’ll get a 512 meg bonus as well). This offer ends January 10, 2010.

I never knew that MOZY has this bonus and this is a great news. Yeah your right Jon by recommending to back-up every now and then for peace of mind when the time comes when our loved computers dies down.
By the way we have the same sound a like name.
This is good to know that it has supported the Mac.
Oh! it’s great for Mac users to get a 2.5GB extra space for back up. I recommend to use this offer as soon as possible.
If you’re a Mac user this post is especially relevant to you! Off-site backup is seriously good insurance, and I strongly recommend this to anybody who has important data. Mozy is an encrypted service, so your data is about as safe as it can be in an online setup, although I will always have nagging privacy concerns when my data isn’t under my direct control.
Honestly I dont use online backups at all. I have always found that simply having a RAID 0 configuration plus an external hard drive has suited my needs. However, I do understand the importance of off-site storage, but having it consume bandwidth? It seems impractical when ur talking about GB’s of data and companies like comcast discussing potential throttling in the near future.
I have to agree with you Mozy are without doubt providing a great service
hey i actually need something like mozy…Thanks for telling about it…It will be very helpful for me…It is a nice post…keep it up.
Thanks for the referral code. It helps a lot. Mozy is a good backup choice.

Thanks for the referral code Jon. Getting 512megs of free space is definitely a good deal – especially at Mozy. There have been many good things said about that company.
excellent service, thanks for the coupon
Just went over to their website via your link, its pretty cool that they are now offering free back up of up to 2 GB, and then anything beyond that is at a cheap rate of at least 4.25 per month, thats pretty awesome deal for sure!
Till then,
Jean
Both Carbonite and Mozy are good systems. Most people don’t need to backup .exe files, so that is often not a problem. I have used both services and I prefer Mozy over Carbonite mainly because Mozy tends to do a better job of backing up locked files even though Carbonite says it handles locked files as well.
I use Mozy Backup for backing up documents and other data. However, I want to switch to Ubuntu, and no linux version is available. I wonder if there is a way to get Mozy to run as bug free as possible on Linux, while I wait for an actual Linux release?
For any web-based backup & storage service, check thoroughly their records/ability to meet commitments for restoring files, within promised times and with promised ease.
What a wonderful service! What a pity that I didn`t know about it, now I’ll know where I can save backup copies of important documents.
Many thanks to Jon Lee!
This is a great idea for many people to back up their tax related documents. It could cost me a bunch of clients. Thanks for the idea.
