New Site Launch: Sujjest.com – Improved eBay Search
Posted by Jon Lee in Personal, Web Development, tags: eBay, Efficiency, search-engine, Sujjest, web sites
After about a month of tweaking and polishing, I’m happy to announce the launch of a new site created by my friend and I, Sujjest.com!
Sujjest is a Web 2.0 Ajax based eBay search engine. The main focus is on finding what you want fast, efficiently and accurately. The reason we decided to create an eBay search engine is because eBay’s own search well… sucks.

Notable Features
- Usability
The user interface is where Sujjest shines. Apart from being clean and pretty, it’s the little things that count. Things like being able to start searching when the page loads, being able to switch item views via just CSS so things change instantly or even the user friendly message describing your search results! Speaking of item views, you can switch from picture to detailed to list view, depending on how you like to view your results! - Unique Keyword System
Sujjest offers an innovative keyword search system where you can add/remove terms or take terms and move them back and forth between inclusion and exclusion. For example, say you looked up “ipod” and a bunch of ipod cases came up, you can easily select to add the keyword “case” to your exclusion list without having to type in anything! - Extended Search Options
We are still in the process of adding more search engines but for now, you can do things like “exclude accessories” so if you’re looking for a laptop, you won’t find a bunch of laptop accessories clogging up your search results! - Fluid Layout
No matter what the resolution of your monitor or what the size of your window is, Sujjest search results flow fluidly to make the most effective use of your screen real estate! Nothing sexier than seeing a huge grid of pictures on a nice big 30″ monitor! - Search Favorite Sellers
Got a list of sellers you love to buy from? (e.g. a list of sellers that allow for local pickup) Simply add them to your sellers list and search only their items!
Much More to Come!
Bookmark the site and stay tuned because we plan on adding more and more features to it! Some features you can expect to see include:
- Implementing search results from other sources as well! (Amazon, Google etc.)
- Ability to save and share your favorite searches
- Ability to save and share your favorite sellers list
Check it out! Comments, questions, sujjestions? All are welcome!

nice! This thing is almost too good. I would suggest having a category tree so that I don’t have to type in what I have to look for… or how bout a most searched terms cloud?
good job mate
totally wicked! is this done in php?
Great. I have bookmarked the site and shall try out at the earliest and comment.
Cool stuff !!! I think it just needs to get picked up well.
Awesom job!
Jon you did great. I wish the best for this project.
Just a few question about the SEO for a search engine like this.
Since the content is almost none, how will google pick it up?
I love AJAX.

Kudos to you!
Seems like a very nice site. Well done. I am going to check it out now. Thanks for the info.
great post
Your features sound great. I haven’t used eBay that much to notice the shortcomings with its search function. But the options you have mentioned sound really useful.
Wow – Sleek and good looking on only the merits of the application and not added “stuff.” Very nicely done.
All the Best for your new search site. Is the design pending. Much of the page seems blank. It would better if you fill them or atleast center your content and search box.
wow, so you earn money when people buy it through your link, right
My sister uses ebay all the time, I’ll have to direct her to this.
Good luck on the new site. I have noticed that ebay’s search is quite lame, and certainly needs some help.
I actually checked out the eBay search feature yesterday. Turns out it is not that great. It is difficult to narrow down searches. Since eBay is so huge on the Internet, I guess this venture should pick up in no time.
Great The site looks awesome and to my surprise the site loads very fast….Great work
We tinkered with that idea… it might be something we’ll be incorporating in a later revision of the site. It doesn’t sound hard to do and it seems useful!
Thanks!
You’re right, since it is AJAX Google won’t be picking up much. We’ll add a few static pages (about page, tutorial page etc.) and that will get crawled.
That’s the problem with AJAX I guess.
Thanks! That’s exactly what we were going for. Everything you need and nothing you don’t
Thanks for the listing!
Exactly, it’s through eBay’s affiliate program.
So we only make money when someone completes a transaction (CPA instead of CPC or CPM)
Thanks! Tell all of your friends!
Narrowing down searches is what Sujjest was built for!
We plan to make it a bit more userfriendly so you don’t have to click so much to filter out terms.
I HATE ebay’s search engine. I’m pumped to see an improvement. Hope this works out for you. I’ll use it.
Nice stuff..Are you use custom script..??
My sister uses ebay all the time, I’ll have to direct her to this.
there isn’t italian ebay….sig sig
I never use ebay to buy stuffs. I don’t really trust people on ebay. I have had some very bad experience.
Category tree would defenatly improve the site, overall very good though.
Very nice looking web 2.0 site. I uses ebay all the time i will try it out
Ebay should improve their site.

I like the new site. It’s MUCH easier to use than the archaic search system on eBay.
I’ve been surprised to see how slow eBay are at making significant improvements to their website.
at last something better than ebay search!, am using it nowadays
Wow.. finally someone improved something about ebay.. Ebay will love you for sending extra traffic to the site! Good on you.. I will be using it…
Being an ebay seller myself, I know this concept is going to be a major success. Posting an item on ebay has always been a hassle, and anything that alleviates that pain will go over well with the general public. Years ago we created a AJAX ebay template just like this for personal use, and it has saved us hours of time. The fact that List’ d is providing this service to others free of charge essentially makes this a home run waiting to happen. Ebay is always slow and clunky, and with AJAX and List’ d you won’ …
its nice to have thing. more specific and more detailed search engined. i want to try this one. can’t find what i want in ebay. but its still cool. lol
