Yesterday, my ReviewMe price was automatically boosted from $60 to $100 per review. Why? Because my Alexa and Technorati rankings have been steadily increasing and I am now a “3 star blog”.
However, I should note that nobody has ordered a single review since first being accepted to ReviewMe a month ago. At first glance this price increase might seem counter intuitive. I mean if your product isn’t selling, would you boost the price to gain sales? Well… sometimes yes! Consumers generally have the notion that things that cost more are of better quality and are therefore worth the extra cost when in reality it may not be the case.
We have to keep in mind that advertisers are consumers themselves. Many blogs are priced at the $60 level so there really isn’t much setting them apart from other blogs. There are fewer blogs at the $100 level which may provide the feeling to advertisers that they are getting more for their money’s worth.
Now this isn’t to say my blog isn’t high quality. In fact I feel it is quite the opposite! You can rest assure that I will put my darnedest effort into writing any reviews that come my way. As you can see from many of my previous posts, I am not a half-assed blogger, so go ahead, order one! It’ll be worth every penny.
