As a web development geek, I love nerdy humor. I especially love nerdy humor in the form of comics. As such, I would like to spread the awesomeness of the web comic that is xkcd. Self described as “A webcomic of romance, sarcasm, math, and language.”, xkcd is exactly the type of comic I would create myself if I had talent.

I’ve been reading it for almost 5 months now and I find myself relating to a lot of them… which may or may not be a good thing. If you’re wondering what xkcd stands for… it doesn’t stand for anything in the acronym sense, but it stands for this.

Here are some of my all-time favorites. Make sure you read the mouse-overs! (click to see larger version):

We once tried playing blindfold chess on the Aerosmith ride at Disney World.I know a lot of people hate these, but I prefer them to touchpads. Wait, forgot to escape a space. Wheeeeee[taptaptap]eeeeee. The worst part is when sidewalk cracks are out-of-sync with your natural stride. Alternate method: convince them to pretend it’s an Etch-a-Sketch and try to erase it. Easier to escape: n-layered nested quotes or an iron maiden? If it’s over water, and you can’t get a boat or revise the rules to preserve the makeout, there is no helping you. The henchmen Bebop and Rocksteady have hijacked the musical genres for us just like the Lone Ranger hijacked the William Tell Overture for our parents. With reasonable assumptions about latitude and body shape, how much time might she gain them? Note: whatever the answer, sunrise always comes too soon. (Also, is it worth it if she throws up?) Your IDE’s colors may vary. If you got a big keyspace, let me search it. Proper User Policy apparently means Simon Says.

Or if you prefer, you can start reading from the first comic. And if you like what you see, you can subscribe to the xkcd RSS feed or support the author by buying one of the many awesome T-shirts from the xkcd store. Updates are every Monday, Wednesday and Friday – which have since become my favorite days of the week.
